Course description:

This is a community class intended for self-identified transgender, queer, bisexual, two-spirit, gay, genderqueer, lesbian, and gender non-conforming* who want to develop a fuller range and comfort with their singing voice. People with all levels of vocal experience (or lack thereof) are welcome and encouraged to join us! The class will culminate in an optional performance of songs. Glitter will also be optional but highly encouraged.

Eli's teaching technique draws from his classical, folk, jazz and musical theater singing background. We will focus on bringing out the joy of singing solo and in a group, no matter what your musical background, learning how to find your core sound, and singing in tune with confidence throughout your voice's whole range.

The space where the class will be taking place is wheelchair-accessible. Unfortunately the bathrooms are not accessible for most modern (wide) chairs.

*This space is created intentionally for LGBTQ communities because LGBTQ folks all too often find spaces focused on singing lacking relevance to our lives and awareness of our needs. If you have any questions about whether the class is right for you, please don't hesitate to contact Eli at voiceandglitter@gmail.com

Former Student Testimonials

From spring 2010 class co-taught by Eli and Wendy Vastine:

"Thank you so much. It felt like this class was a springboard into many more singing and other creative adventures."

"Now I'm more confident, more willing to go outside of my boundaries and be silly to find what works.... THANK YOU SO FREAKIN' MUCH!!!"

"I love the laughter and supportive group energy."

"It was amazing to see everyone grow so much and really connect with their own voice! Like bodywork therapy as well as artistic expression -- yay!!!! Sparkle power!"
