more details » CUAV benefit: Speed Dating for Queer Women at Il Pirata Speed Dating for Queer Women Hosted by The Queer Love Connection: Bringing you Meaningful Connections in a Fun, Safe Space The Logistics When: Saturday, February 19th, 2011 Where: Il Pirata, 2007 16th St @ Potrero Registration and Mingling: 8:00-9:00pm Speed Dating: 9:00pm-10:30pm DJ + Drinks: 10:30-12am How much: $20 -- all profits go directly to your local queer safety-makers, CUAV (Community United Against Violence) Why Come? Datings hard, right? The bar scene is stale. Online dating is a drag. The laundromats are empty. And you've met all your friends' friends. It'll be your cheapest date ever -- 10 dates for 20 bucks. You'll be able to meet loads of awesome folks during the speed dating as well as The Mingles. Prior to and after the event, we'll have a DJ -- and food & drinks are available. So, you'll have tons of time to meet others -- on and off the speed date floor. And we hope for representation from the entire rainbow! There will also be a fun presentation on the Neuroscience of Love -- with helpful tips for relationships and speed dating! (After all, we want to set you up for success!) From the East Bay, take the Civic Center exit, left at 8th St., right at Brannan, left at Potrero. How this works After the Pre-Mingle, you will have the opportunity to have a mini date with 10-12 other women to search out you compatibility for one or more of the following categories: a) friends/networking b) dating c) all of the above d) not interested 1. You'll be able to sit and talk with other participants one-on-one for 5 minutes to ask each other questions. We'll even provide a list of Conversation Starters to get things rollin'! 2. After each conversation, you'll make note of your interests on a sheet of paper based on the categories mentioned above. You'll also be provided a separate sheet to take notes so you can remember your favorites! 3. Then, if you both select each other in identical categories, you'll be notified via email with each other's email address and encouraged to take the next step!
