Tickets: Regular $20 / Students $15

We kept the climactic ending to this new horror musical a secret at the staged singing in August but now ALL will be REVEALED!!

HALLOWEEN! THE BALLAD OF MICHELE MYERS is musical parody of America's obsession with slasher films mashed up with black comedy teen movies such as Heathers along with a heavy dash of one of TV's scariest sitcoms from the 80s, The Facts of Life:

"Mrs. Skerritt chaperons 4 school 'girls' up to the lake for a fun-filled Halloween dance over at the boys' camp. But someone also invited crazed tranny killer Michele Myers to crash the party! Watch her slash through her victims to a disco beat! Dos-i-do and try to evade her bloody gaze! Rock out with your cock out and it just might get snipped! Shriek in horror at her unmasking! Freddy, Jason, and Michael scared your breathless…now it's HER TURN!"

HALLOWEEN stars a bevy of local drag and performing artist talent: Raya Light, Steven Satyricon, Trixxie Carr, Audra Wolfmann, Honey Mahogany, Flynn Witmeyer, Robert Grammel aka Pristine Condition, Samuel Palmer, and Kai Medeiros.

MY COMA DREAMS tells a true story of love at the dividing line between life and death.

the story: An HIV-positive jazz musician is rushed by his partner to St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan. A mild cough has become a massive infection, shutting down every organ in his body. The doctors put him into a medically-induced coma. Over the next two months, he enters a highly personal dream world, full of vivid experiences of confinement and release, of surreal comedy and ineffable beauty. He finds himself in hushed cathedrals; trapped in a cage beside jazz legend Thelonious Monk; careening through the night in a runaway van; dancing the tango in an impossibly luxurious airplane. Meanwhile, his partner fights through panic and despair to try to reach out to him across the gulf of consciousness, while negotiating the real-world complexities of his medical care.

the music is by composer Fred Hersch, "singular among trailblazers of his art." (Vanity Fair)

the script is by writer/director Herschel Garfein, whose "themes are deeply American, and rooted in the mores of Generations X and Y." (Time Out NY)

MY COMA DREAMS is jazz theater: theater propelled by music, words, song, and images in fluid and ever-changing combinations.

starring singer/actor Michael Winther, "a theater singer of unusual refinement" with "a voice that traverses genres." (NY Times)

featuring extended improvisations from Fred Hersch himself, "the most arrestingly innovative pianist in jazz" (NY Times) and an 11-piece ensemble "swinging like mad." (All About Jazz).

with projections by animator Sarah Wickliffe, who creates "a swirling pastiche of visual imagery that places dream worlds and reality in juxtaposition, always adding to the overall composition of the piece." (Culturebot)

Reminder: Gay Shame Meeting @ Sat Oct 29 5:30pm - 7pm (Queer Things)

Gay Shame Meeting

GAY SHAME is a Virus in the System. We are committed to a queer extravaganza that brings direct action to astounding levels of theatricality. We will not be satisfied with a commercialized gay identity that denies the intrinsic links between queer struggle and challenging power. We seek nothing less than a new queer activism that foregrounds race, class, gender and sexuality, to counter the self-serving
"values" of gay consumerism and the increasingly hypocritical left. We are dedicated to fighting the rabid assimilationist monster with a devastating mobilization of queer brilliance. GAY SHAME is a celebration of resistance: all are welcome.

Gay Shame was meeting Saturdays at Modern Times on Valencia, but the store has moved to 24th Street but info about new location for Gay Shame meetings isn't up yet. So check http://gayshamesf.org

Reminder: Wilde Chats at Sweet Inspirations @ Sat Oct 29 10:30am - 11:30am (Queer Things)

Wilde Chats at Sweet Inspirations

Haven't had a really good meaningful conversation lately? Then come and explore Wilde Chats, one of The Community Initiative's most popular activities. Meeting at a variety of San Francisco's distinctive neighborhood cafes, a large diverse group of gay men explores topics and issues that are important to us as gay men. A great way to make new friends on a level that doesn't usually happen in bars or clubs.

Wilde Chats is a loosely structured community-driven group get together every Saturday morning to discuss specific issues affecting us as gay men and our gay community. The group is lead following a "Socratic" model; rather than talk about solutions and answers to problems, the idea is to expand on the days topic by analyzing it and breaking it up into other questions. The discussions typically focus on the hidden/unspoken assumptions, generalities and concepts that we as gay men make, and the differences that our various points of reference imply. Wilde Chats are currently taking place at the times and locations listed below.

Wilde Chats meets 10:30AM - 12:00PM Saturdays at Sweet Inspirations, 2239 Market Street between Sanchez and Noe.

The HUNGER
Presented in conjunction with SF Moma
Ann Magnuson In Person! David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve are an ageless vampire couple, and Susan Sarandon is the doctor caught between them in this hot-blooded/stone-cold 1983 erotic goth classic. All that, and Bauhaus, too! Dir: Tony Scott. Starring David Bowie, Catherine Deneuve, Susan Sarandon & Ann Magnuson. 1983, USA, Digital, 97 mins., 7pm

NADJA
Trading '80s high-fashion Goth sway for '90s narcoticized Shoegaze, the stylish and oddly touching New York City vampire film Nadja is an absurdly underappreciated gem from Michael Almereyda. Indebted equally to David Lynch (who produced the movie) and Hal Hartley (whose Amateur stars Elena Lowenstein and Martin Donovan also top the bill of Nadja), the film centers on a family of vampires coming to terms with the death of their patriarch. Meanwhile, Dr. Van Helsing (fresh out on parole after putting a stake through Dracula's heart!) has his sights set on them, and is closing in. Nadja also stars Peter Fonda (as Dr. Van Helsing!) and David Lynch (as a morgue attendant!). It was partially shot on a Fischer-Price Pixel Vision camera. The soundtrack has just a metric ton of My Bloody Valentine on it. Can you believe you haven't seen this thing?! Dir: Michael Almereyda, Starring: Elena Lowenstein, Peter Fonda and Martin Donovan. 1994, USA, 35mm, 93 mins., 9:30pm
Location: Big Roxie
