PETER MARAVELIS, store events manager, describes plans for the big 60th birthday party: "Beginning in late June of 2013, we will begin staging readings, music, educational events, both on and off site, and weekend parties in Kerouac Alley. Our special calendar will run for the remainder of the year. Our kickoff event will be an open house on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the store. We'll open up our editorial offices for the day and everyone is invited. We'll be screening rare archival footage of author readings, have live presentations, and yummy treats.
