APE, the Alternative Press Expo, Returns to San Francisco October 4 & 5!
The Alternative Press Expo—better and more fondly known as APE—returns to San Francisco on October 4 and 5 in a brand new venue: the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason Center. With over 6,100 attendees in 2013, APE once again brought the very best of alternative and small press comics to the Bay Area. The event’s long-time venue, the Concourse Exhibition Center, is slated to close this year, making 2013 the last year for APE at that location.

Fort Mason Center is a vibrant, arts-oriented destination on San Francisco Bay and also a part of APE’s history. When Comic-Con International moved the event from San Jose to San Francisco in 2000, Fort Mason was its new home for the first 3 years (2000, 2001, and 2002). And now after 11 years at the Concourse, APE returns!

APE 2014 features an amazing special guests list to kick off our first year in this new venue:

Bob Fingerman (Minimum Wage, Bottomfeeder)
Faith Erin Hicks (Friends with Boys, The Nameless City)
Ed Piskor (Wizzywig, Hip Hop Family Tree)
Paul Pope (Battling Boy, The Rise of Aurora West) Appearing Sunday, Oct. 5 ONLY
Jason Shiga (Empire State, Meanwhile, Demon)
C. Spike Trotman (Poorcraft, Templar, Arizona)
Robert Williams (Zap Comix, The Lowbrow Art of Robert Williams) Appearing Saturday, Oct. 4 ONLY

Now you can travel from Caltrain, the Civic Center BART station at Hyde Street, the San Francisco Centre shopping mall, and the Ferry Building Marketplace to the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason with regularly scheduled shuttle service.

Look for the stop sign at each bus stop and the APE sign in the front and side window of the bus. Buses will not depart any stop before the times listed and may depart later than the time listed due to traffic or weather conditions.

Attendees who require special transportation should make advance arrangements with the SEAT Planners’ shuttle supervisor near the entrance of the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason Center or call (619) 921-0173.

Check the shuttle schedule at this http://www.comic-con.org/ape/2014/shuttle-bus to see which times work best for you …and leave the driving to us! Or check out the Toucan Blog for more information here http://www.comic-con.org/toucan/05ape-2014-apes-free-courtesy-shuttle-leave-driving-us. Best of all, it’s FREE!
