Reminder: Wilde Chats at Sweet Inspirations @ Sat Jun 29, 2013 10:30am - 11:30am (Queer Things)
Wilde Chats at Sweet InspirationsHaven't had a really good meaningful conversation lately? Then come and explore Wilde Chats, one of The Community Initiative's most popular activities. Meeting at a variety of San Francisco's distinctive neighborhood cafes, a large diverse group of gay men explores topics and issues that are important to us as gay men. A great way to make new friends on a level that doesn't usually happen in bars or clubs. Wilde Chats is a loosely structured community-driven group get together every Saturday morning to discuss specific issues affecting us as gay men and our gay community. The group is lead following a "Socratic" model; rather than talk about solutions and answers to problems, the idea is to expand on the days topic by analyzing it and breaking it up into other questions. The discussions typically focus on the hidden/unspoken assumptions, generalities and concepts that we as gay men make, and the differences that our various points of reference imply. Wilde Chats are currently taking place at the times and locations listed below. Wilde Chats meets 10:30AM - 12:00PM Saturdays at Sweet Inspirations, 2239 Market Street between Sanchez and Noe.

Reminder: Gay Hist-Orgy Part 3: Mondo Mythological at Faetopia @ Fri Jun 28, 2013 10pm - 11:30pm (Queer Things)
Gay Hist-Orgy Part 3: Mondo Mythological at Faetopiahttp://faetopia.com/schedule/friday-june-28/ Faetopia, next to Cafe Flore at Market St & Noe St (2286 Market St, to be exact). In Mondo Mythological, his all-new multimedia one-man show, performance activist Ian MacKinnon brings the past to life by tracing the history of gay people in new ways never before seen on stage. With the aid of his magic time-traveling chaps and sexy Genie guide, Ian extends his Gay Hist-Orgy series to explore the world of homo-mythology. The Gay Hist-Orgy is more than a show; it draws from the roots of gay liberation to reveal gayness as something unique, radical, and beautiful, with the potential to change the world for the better. Mondo Mythological begins where part two of the Gay Hist-Orgy series ends but stands alone as an independent piece. Starting in Ancient Sumeria with The Epic of Gilgamesh Ian traces themes in gay world mythology from The Greeks to The Americas and beyond, all the while fighting assimilation in order to discover a new homosexual myth of meaning. It's a hot and horny evening of laughs and lust, fun and fucking, humor and heroism. Come take this sexy, wild, educational, and fun theatrical adventure!
