Lovers of the written and spoken word! get your butts down to The Modern Times bookstore for a Benefit show that will benefit, yes you guessed it, everyone's favorite Community Bookstore! ...THE SHOW, will be an eclectic, electric, energetic group of Poets, Musicians, and Artists put together by me, the poet Tom Comitta and the amazing spoken word artist Dusty Rose. The show will include readings and performances by Steven Trull, Samantha Bourdot, Diana McCullough, the Poet 'i' the Painter Bex, performances by Tom, Dusty and your neighborhood friendly Mexican, and many more, like local writer, activist, poet Liz Green! Super sexy Slam Poet Jaime Britton!! THE CAUSE, help the bookstore out. They are one of the only bookstores that are for the people in its community, their bookstore house books that would not be sold in other bookstores and their community space in the back house some of the most amazing events in the bay area. They are a true home for the book lover, literary connoisseur, activist, academic, community organizer, young, old, and they have been in the Mission since 1971. They are old school. All money we make at the door will go to them. For a long time they have supported artists and their events, so some artist are going to get together to HELP THEM OUT! TIME 7pm sharp babies! DATE Monday September 13! PRICE Sliding scale guys, 3 to 10 bucks, or whatever you can afford in between. WHAT YOU CAN DO spread the word! Invite your friends, bring them, and BUY A BOOK! Give it to a little kid for a present, to a friend, to a neighbor, to an enemy, a book is the most amazing gift, next to sex and booze. A book is a terrible thing to waste.
