Reinforcing Stereotypes comedy at Yoshi's SF REINFORCING STEREOTYPES : At YOSHI'S JAZZ CLUB San Francisco January 10th What: Reinforcing stereotypes is a bold evening of stand up comedy featuring some of the area's hottest comics who are often lumped into a particular stereotype, whether it be true or not! This evening of eclectic and brash humor celebrates those stereotypes with jokes ranging from a comic's personal experience of how Ghetto chicks talk on their cell phones on the bus to another comic's former 'sterotypical' career as a flight attendant and more! Complete biographies below. COMEDIAN BIOS: Frankie Quinones - The Mexican Frankie Quinones has quickly become a Bay Area favorite. He brings energy and originality to the stage along with a fresh twist on urban comedy. His character performance and musical talents we'll leave you at the edge of your seat. Frankie has performed for our troops overseas and currently tours with the legendary Paul Rodriguez.
Yayne Abeba is known for gripping audiences with her tales of growing up as a first generation Ethiopian in America. She found constant humor in the fact that she was growing up in two totally opposite worlds; the old culture of Ethiopia fused with the young and rebelious culture of America. It didn't help that she grew up in San Francisco's Haight Ashbury. Hippies and Habeshas don't mix very well. In 1995, she joined Jean Shelton actor's lab. It was there that she received praise for the role of Denny (an 80 year old white man) in the original production of "Indigo Don't Vote".She was bitten by the comedy bug in 1999 at Tony Spark's Luggage Store. Her style as been described as fresh, innovative, cutting edge and just damn funny! No topic is off limits. It was this refreshing style that got her on Season Two of Last Comic Standing. She received rave reviews for her performance at the first Holy City Zoo production, "Zoology 101", in January of 2000. She has performed at the Kung Pao Kosher Comedy show, Funny Girlz with Renee Hicks and Elvira Kurt. She took second place in the 2001 Russian River Comedy Competition. She is the winner of the (2002) Russian River Comedy Competition. Emily Heller - Chick
