film: WHEN MY SORROW DIED: The Legend of Armen Ra & the Theremin at the Roxie

Glamorously eccentric and enigmatic Theremin master Armen Ra recounts his dynamic journey in this life-spanning documentary that mixes rare concert performances, candid interviews, and archive material. Escaping systematic bullying for the NYC drag world of 1980’s, he discovered the Theremin, the first electronic instrument ever invented. Operated somewhat magically without touch, like a magician, Armen Ra pulled himself out of darkness, addiction, and fear by pulling ethereal music out of thin air. - JM
