Berkeley: Copwatch 20th Anniversary with Sistas in teh PitCOPWATCH CELEBRATES 20 YEARS OF POLICE ACCOUNTABILITY IN BAY AREA Benefit concert on Thursday, March 11 with SISTAS IN THE PIT WHO: COPWATCH – Founded in Berkeley in March 1990 to monitor police actions SISTERS IN THE PIT – sexy rock, black-girl style PLUS other special guests, poets and speakers WHEN: Thursday, March 11, 7:30 p.m. WHERE: Ashkenaz, 1317 San Pablo Avenue (near Gilman) in Berkeley WHAT: Join Us In The Spirit Of International Women's Day to celebrate women on the frontline of resistance and change WHY: Copwatch was founded by three women in Berkeley in March 1990 and inspired a nationwide network of police accountability groups. The event will also honor the family of Oscar Grant, the man fatally shot by a former BART police officer on January 1, 2009.
