more details » Masturbate-a-thon at the Center for Sex and Culture In 1995, just months after US Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders had been fired for mildly pro-masturbation remarks, Good Vibrations launched National Masturbation Month. Dedicated to increasing discussion and ending the stigma surrounding self-pleasure, San Francisco's Center for Sex & Culture developed a live group version of the masturbate-a-thon, and on Sunday, May 30th, people will gather at CSC to masturbate (or watch from the audience area) and earn donations based on the pledges they've gathered. Hosted by Good Vibrations Staff Sexologist Dr. Carol Queen and porn superstar Nina Hartley, with Feminist Porn Award winner Jiz Lee and other special guests, the 2010 Masturbate-a-Thon will be the CSC's largest annual fundraiser.
