Note: Queer Cartoonists panel at 3pm:
3:00-4:00 Queer Cartoonists—LGBT cartoonists have always faced unique challenges and yet also offered unique perspectives. As queer stories move increasingly into the mainstream, what role do queer comics play, and are they helping the gay agenda take over the world? Join this dynamic panel -- in its seventh year at APE -- with a particularly diverse and fabulous line-up of cartoonists: APE special guest Tommy Kovac (Stitch), Jon Macy (Teleny and Camille), Desmond Miller (Hansel and Gretel: Agents of the Coven), Christine Smith (Eve's Apple), Rick Worley (A Waste of Time), Sean Z (Myth), and moderator Justin Hall (Glamazonia).

The cool, crisp weather of fall is right around the corner and so is APE, the Alternative Press Expo! The popular indie and alternative comics show has become a must-attend event on the comics convention calendar. The fall show is in the final stages of planning and APE 2010 features an incredible line-up of special guests plus a giant Exhibit Hall, which is bigger than ever.

Coming back to San Francisco on October 16 and 17 at the Concourse Exhibition Center (located at 635 8th Street), APE offers comics fans an event focused on creativity and devoted to the output of indie cartoonists, artists, and publishers doing the thing they love most. With over 5,000 attendees in 2009, APE remains the premiere alternative comics and publishing show in the nation.

APE's 2010 confirmed special guests are Lynda Barry (writer/artist, What It Is, Picture This: The Near-Sighted Monkey Book), Daniel Clowes (writer/artist, Ghost World, Wilson), Renée French (writer/artist, The Soap Lady, H Day), Megan Kelso (writer/artist, Artichoke Tales, The Squirrel Mother), Rich Koslowski (writer/artist, The 3 Geeks, BB Wolf and the Three LPs), Tommy Kovac (writer/artist, Stitch; writer, The Royal Historian of Oz), and Tony Millionaire (writer/artist, Maakies, Sock Monkey). Click here for more info on our special guests!

In addition to the Exhibit Hall, APE features two full days of programming, including special spotlight panels on the special guests and other indy comics panels. Your membership badge ($10.00/single day, $15.00/both days) gets you access to these great events (space permitting). Memberships are available only onsite.
