About the Event:
Adah Bakalinsky and Tom Downs will be joining us to read and share from their books Stairway Walks in San Francisco and Walking San Francisco.

Discover the hidden treasures of the City that you can get to by simply putting one foot in front of the other! Adah Bakalinsky and Tom Downs will share stories from their adventures of walking the streets and stairways of San Francsico.

About the Authors:

Adah Bakalinsky is the queen of San Francisco's quirky stairways. A veteran guide of the hidden corridors of the City, she talks with the people she meets and gathers stories along the way.

Tom Downs is an award-winning travel writer and photographer. He has worn out dozens of pairs of shoes compiling material for his book.

Books Inc. is a locally owned and operated independent bookstore with 10 locations in California. Books Inc.'s origins date back to the Gold Rush days of 1851, when Anton Roman struck it rich in Shasta City, California and set himself up in business selling books. That small bookstore was moved, bought, sold, burned, rebuilt and renamed, and became Books Inc. as we know it today in 1946.

Today, with 10 stores and 200 employees, Books Inc. serves as a shining example that independent bookselling can survive and prosper, even if we must dance among the elephants.
