No tears to see April go, I suspect! This coming Sunday, May 1st we will have beautiful K'vetsh with the obscenely talented JUSTIN CHIN with the spectacular video creations of KIM KELLY and DYLAN MIRA. They've got issues and they are indisputably on video! As always, our show is all-genders all-outfits so stop thinking so much and come on down! Featuring: ... Kim Kelly and Dylan Mira's real dad is Jim Carrey. You can tell because stupid things happen to them ALL THE TIME. Like a pizza in the rain. They are multimedia artists who sift through pop detritus to gather and narrate imaginary histories that reveal the triumph and endurance of the effeminate, the awkward, the androgynous, and the homemade in defiance of the brawn of homogonous social culture. Dylan Mira is an MFA candidate in New Genres at UCLA. She has exhibited and screened at sites including the Philadelphia Institute of Contemporary Art, Art Production Fund, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, Los Angeles Nomadic Division, Light Industry and Artist Television Access. Kim Kelly is the recipient of a Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs grant and has exhibited at sites including Darin Klein and Friends, Giant Robot Gallery in New York, Needles and Pens Gallery, and Around the Coyote Gallery. AND Justin Chin! Born in Malaysia, raised & educated in Singapore, shipped to the U.S. by way of Hawaii, and now living in San Francisco. Author of 3 books of poetry, all published by Manic D Press: Bite Hard (1997); Harmless Medicine (2001), a finalist in the Bay Area Book Reviewers Association Awards; and, Gutted (2006), which received the 2007 Thom Gunn Award for Poetry by the Publishing Triangle. Squeezed in between these were 2 non-fictions: Mongrel: Essays, Diatribes & Pranks (St. Martins, 1999), and the ur-memoir, Burden of Ashes (Alyson Publications, 2002). Hosted by your queer eye gay guys Tara Jepsen and Kirk Read. This Sunday, May 1st. 7:30 open mic sign-ups, 8:00 show. Always on time! Open mic people are welcome to present one piece of less than five minutes, or five minutes of a longer piece. Two pieces? No. Medleys? Check with me (Kirk can't be trusted to be firm). BUT PROBABLY NOT. The admission is $3 to $5. We are comfortable saying that is an incredible deal. You must be 18 or over to regard the dong throng inside Eros. Please feel free to dress in a tiny white towel for the show. Eros is located at 2051 Market St. at 14th St. in San Francisco.
