more details » The Ali Mafi Show with Special Guest Marga Gomez at The Marsh Berkeley Saturday, June 11, 2011 8:30pm The Ali Mafi Show with Special Guest Marga Gomez Ali Mafi was born in Iran, raised in Novato and at 25 he is already the world's funniest Gay Iranian comedian. He's also Iranian President Ahmadinejad's worst nightmare. Ali's rapid-fire delivery and material is seasoned, incisive and timely. He skewers politicians, gay boys and girls, his mother, and anyone else in his path. His recent comedy work includes touring nationally from 2009 to the present with Aisha Tyler's "Queens of Comedy Tour." Ali was also featured in two comedy specials on the LOGO network. This is a rare Berkeley appearance for Ali and a real treat for adventurous and lusty comedy fans in the East Bay. Marga Gomez, triple winner of the Bay Guardian's "Best Comedian" award, kicks off the "Berkeley Gay Comedy Festival" with a special guest set. Armistead Maupin recently called Marga "Astonishing" Robin Williams described Marga as "Amazing" and "A Lesbian Lenny Bruce" Marga is the curator and force behind stand-up comedy programming at The Marsh Berkeley in 2011. This Summer she opens her ninth solo show "Not Getting Younger" in San Francisco and in New York. Marga can be seen at The MARSH Berkeley weekly in "Marga's Funny Mondays" along with a changing cast of top-notch comedy talent of every persuasion.
