James C Hormel: Fit to Serve at Main LibraryA talk by James C. Hormel about the timely, inspiring journey of attaining life, liberty and happiness without exception. James Hormel grew up affluent in a small midwestern town, an heir to the meat empire. He knew he was an outsider by the age of 13. James Hormel has a law degree and worked as Dean at the University of Chicago, and as a U.S. delegate to the UN Commission on Human Rights. He served as US ambassador to Luxembourg from 1999-2000. He established the James C. Hormel Gay and Lesbian Center at San Francisco Public Library. He continues to work in philanthropy and Democratic politics. Fit to Serve was co-written by Erin Martin.
