more details » Divining Divas, with Michael Montlack and friends at SF Main Library Tuesday September 18 at 6:00PM in the Hormel Gay and Lesbian Center Third Floor, SF Main Library, 100 Larkin St. Divining Divas, with Michael Montlack and friends Michael Montlack is the author of the poetry book Cool Limbo (NYQ Books, 2011) and the editor of the essay anthology My Diva (University of Wisconsin Press, 2009), which was a Lambda Literary Award Finalist. He is the recipient of residencies/scholarships from VCCA, Ucross, Lambda Literary Foundation, Tin House and Squaw Valley. His newest release is Divining Divas (Lethe Press, 2012), the poetry follow-up to My Diva. He is joined by poets Brent Calderwood whose poems have appeared in American Poetry Journal, Poets & Artists, The Gay & Lesbian Review Worldwide, and The Southern Poetry Anthology; Kevin Simmonds who has published three books, including the poetry collections Mad for Meat, Ota Benga Under My Mother's Roof and the anthology Collective Brightness: LGBTIQ Poets on Faith, Religion & Spirituality. He wrote the music for the Emmy Award-winning documentary Hope: Living and Loving with HIV in Jamaica and Voices of Haiti: A Post-Quake Odyssey in Verse, both commissioned by the Pulitzer Center. His films, including feti(sh)ame and Singing Whitman, have played at SF Frameline, Provincetown International Film Festival, Barcelona's MiMi Festival and Hong Kong's InDPanda Festival. Baruch Porras-Hernandez is a performance poet and the host of the San Francisco Queer Open Mic. In addition to Divning Divas, he's been published in various literary journals and anthologies. Ronald Palmer is the author of Logicalogics (Soft Skull / Counterpoint Press) and Prick Queasy: The Russ Wade Stories (find "chapter 9" from this serial publication at Summer BF Press). Richard Loranger is the author of Poems for Teeth, as well as The Orange Book and eight chapbooks, including Hello Poems and The Day Was Warm and Blue.
