Marga Gomez's Day of the Dead Republican at La Pena Berkeleyhttp://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/282368 Marga Gomez (voted 2012 Best Comedian SF Bay Guardian and the SF Weekly) returns to La Peña two nights only for a supercharged stand up comedy performance guaranteed to bury the hopes of the Republican Right and send Mitt Romney's career to a better place on 'Day Of The Dead Republican,' also referred to as "No Souls Day" by disaffected youth. Borrowing from Latino ritual, Marga Gomez will construct an altar for Mitt Romney's dead career with offerings of his favorite foods-- Jell-O, boiled potatoes, lemons, decaf coffee, used magic underpants, a lock from Paul Ryan's widow's peak. And tied to the top an adorable Irish Setter. The audience is welcome to contribute to the shrine with offerings of whatever: wilted flowers, scissors, food stamps, tequila and four loco even if it's a non Mormon approved substance. Marga Gomez will collect it all after the show. Marga will also conduct a candlelight procession around the block to say good riddance to Mitt Romney. The best Day of The Dead outfit in the audience will be awarded for prizes up to $5,000 depending on the scratch off ticket. There may be tears but comedian Marga Gomez will dry them with stories of hiding out from abduction by the Ambush Makeover television show who prey on happy frumpy middle-aged women walking down the street and pull them into vans full of high fashion hooligans. Gomez will reveal her new crush, Gigi Chao, the Hong Kong lesbian heiress, whose father has offered 65 million to any man who will marry her. Not even the L word could write a more ridiculous story line. Marga will check up on the incarcerated punk ban Pussy Riot and how many times Katie Couric has had to say pussy on the air during this international situation. After running a successful theater piece "Not Getting Any Younger" at Marsh Berkeley and Marsh San Francisco for 18 months, Marga is thrilled to perform a full evening of stand up comedy "Day of the Dead Republican" in concert at La Peña. Gomez has appeared on HBO's Comic Relief, LOGO's one night stand up. And is working on a new comedy CD.
