Class Description
This is a class for self-identified transgender, queer, bisexual, lesbian and/or gay people and our allies who want to develop their harmony singing ability in a fun group setting.

We will explore rounds, singing in harmony on assigned parts in small groups, learning how to hear and sing major and minor triad chords, and coming up with our own two-part harmonies for simple songs. Participants will be expected to practice 10 - 30 minutes a day, and to meet with their class buddy at least twice outside of class over the course of the nine weeks.

This class is designed for people who are already comfortable with singing, whether or not they have performance experience. Participants should be able to match pitch, and to stay in key when singing by themselves. Previous musical instruction, harmony singing or an ability to read music are not required. If you have any questions about whether this class is right for you, please contact me.

The class will culminate in an informal recital. Glitter will be optional but highly encouraged!

Class Fee
Standard Rate: $300, due in two installments on May 13th and June 10th.

Sponsorship Rate: $350, due in two installments on May 13th and June 10th.
I encourage students who have an income above $40,000 a year or who have wealth to pay at the $350 sponsorship rate. Paying at this rate helps me offer a need-based sliding scale rate to those who need it.

Sliding Scale Rate: Variable, payment plans available.
Students who need a reduced class fee or a payment plan to be able to participate are invited to contact me. My sliding scale is based on average monthly income.

Accessibility
This class is intentionally in a wheelchair accessible space and is designed to work for people of a broad range of abilities and body types. If you have specific access needs, I encourage you to let me know when you register so that we can work together to make the class an accessible space for you.

Fragrance-Free Notice: I ask all students to please join me in making preparations to ensure this class is accessible for community members with environmental illness. On class days, I ask that you refrain from wearing scented products, including colognes and perfumes, clothing washed in scented detergents, and hair and body products with fragrance, including essential oils. More info about how to be scent-free and a list of scent-free products is available here.

Registration Is Now Open
The registration deadline is Tuesday, April 29th. To register, write SingWithEli@gmail.com and I will send you a short survey to fill out to complete your registration.

Registration is first-come, first-served until the class is full with twelve participants. Classes often fill up quickly, so I encourage you to register today! Once the class is full, I will start a waiting list.

About the Teacher
Eli Conley is a gay transgender man who is a singer/songwriter and voice teacher based in the Bay Area. He studied classical singing at Oberlin Conservatory and jazz vocal performance at Berklee College of Music. Eli performs and tours as an indie folk artist, and is a former member of the Grammy award-winning San Francisco Symphony Chorus. Along with group classes and workshops, Eli also offers private voice lessons for people of all identities, ages 13 and up.

Why are your classes and workshops geared toward LGBTQ people?
I know from personal experience that queer and transgender folks all too often find spaces focused on singing lacking relevance to our lives, awareness of our needs, and commitment to collective liberation. I believe it is a powerful act for LGBTQ people to raise our voices together in song, and to listen deeply to each other as we grow as singers. Though my classes are centered in LGBTQ communities, straight and cisgender people are also welcome to join us.
