Reminder: Shock and Awww: LGBT short plays from Left Coast Theatre ... @ Weekly from 7:30pm to 8:30pm on Thursday, Friday, Saturday from Fri Oct 31 to Sat Nov 22 (Queer Things)

Shock and Awww: LGBT short plays from Left Coast Theatre Co at the Shelton

Tickets are now on sale for Left Coast Theatre Co.’s

production of Shock and Awww, a world-premiere collection of six hilarious one-act, LGBT-themed plays

by playwrights from the Bay Area and across the country.

Shock and Awww delves into the more offbeat ways people find each other. LGBT folk know better than

most that life’s not always the way it is in the movies and you can’t count on a happy ending, a fact that’s

clearly evident here. The characters in this collection take the long road to love, and they don’t all find it.

But they’ll definitely keep you laughing all the way through.

* Snip - by Chris Maltby, directed by Terry Maloney Haley
* Romeo and Jules - by Ron Burch, directed by Richard S. Sargent
* Mangina - by Joseph Frank, directed by Joseph Frank
* Flooding - by Jami Brandli, directed by Debi Durst
* Jim at My Door- by Dave Carley, directed by Joseph Frank
* Fanny Packs and Hanky Codes- by Kristian O’Hare, directed by Joseph Frank

Shock and Awww will run Thursdays through Saturdays at the Shelton Theater, 533 Sutter Street,

San Francisco, CA, from October 31 to November 22, 2014. Full information can be found at:

* Brown Paper Tickets: http://shock.brownpapertickets.com
* LCTC Website: http://www.LCTC-SF.org
* LCTC Twitter: https://twitter.com/LCTCSF
* LCTC Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/LeftCoastTheatreCompany

LCTC is the only theater company in the Bay Area to feature new, short works from the LGBT perspective. Their past productions, Family Programming, I’m Not OK, Cupid and Twisted Fairy Tales have all had extremely successful runs and they expect the same for Shock and Aww .

LCTC’s mission is to develop and produce quality LGBT theater, featuring new works by both Bay Area and national playwrights as to promote diversity and encourage community involvement.

The vast amount of health information currently available can feel overwhelming. This training series aims to empower people to get diverse health information and research, including information that seems so advanced only a doctor would understand it. You are the primary expert on your body and you have the right and ability to use and understand all available knowledge about the body to your benefit.

Think you can't understand the newest finding in neuroscience or epigenetics and how they pertain to you? Think again! Health knowledge, like many things in our society, is too often used as a form of control. New Horizons for Health: Skills and Practices for Healing and Health Justice will provide concrete concepts, skills and practices to enable participants to engage with their own health and healing in a fresh, more confident and liberatory
way.

Whether you are a person living with a disability, chronic health issues or chronic pain, a health-care professional, or an activist, this 6-week intensive training series will change the way you experience health. This course will enable participants to:
* Re-think health beyond popular health myths
* Be Present and become the embryos of the better world we dream of and are creating
* Gain fluency in basic medical terminology, and learn the basics of
conducting medical research
* Confidently engage in health-advocacy for yourself and others
* Learn somatic techniques for healing trauma and deepening your
meditation practice
* Cultivate an understanding of emerging findings in neurobiology,
neurophysiology and epigenetics
* Build skills for healthier living and using your intuition
* Envision and plan personal and community-based solutions to the
health crisis

All participants will also receive a 20 minute health and wellness session.
Enroll Here!
http://villagecraft.org/w/f24348ae-new-horizons-for-health-concepts-and-practices-for-healing-and-health-justice This will be a scent-free class!

About the Instructor:
Mordecai Cohen Ettinger, MA, is an active member of the LBGT & disability justice communities, adjunct faculty at CIIS and has over 20 years experience as a holistic healer, educator and social justice activist. He maintains a committed meditation practice, and is trained as a somatic, Reiki, and Cranial Sacral practitioner. Mordecai's Masters research explores the social nervous system and the neurobiology of trauma and trauma
resolution -- particularly trauma stemming from injustice -- as it relates to collective and individual resilience, healing and social change. Learn more here , http://www.bodyeclectic.net or email Mordecai:
mordecai@bodyeclectic.net

What's Somatics:
Grounded in the belief that the body in its wholeness is the foundation for healing, somatic practices combine body awareness techniques with findings
in neurobiology and neurophysiology. These practices support & enhance the body's innate self-regulatory and resilience-building capacities. Used with focused intention, these practices can lead to symptom reduction and deeper insight about who we are, the world as a whole, and how we wish to inhabit
it. Come as you are, leave as you wish to be. . . somatics for social
responsibility!
