more details » East Bay: Photo opening at Pictopia Gallery Pictopia.com, the leading provider of professionally sourced photographs, today announced the launch of Pictopia Gallery, a unique East Bay photography art-space. The Gallery will feature local Bay Area artist's photography and prints from the vast image archives of Pictopia's photo store Media Partners, a few of which include National Geographic, The Associated Press, Marvel Comics, SFGate.com, The National Archives, Getty Images and many others. Pictopia 1300 66th St Emeryville, CA 94608 "We're very excited to launch Pictopia Gallery as a resource for photographers in all stages of their artistic development," said Damian Taylor, Pictopia's Production Manager and the Gallery's Producer. "Our goals with this new space are to promote local photography talent and provide resources from our high-end photo lab to emerging photographers. We would also like to share some of the incredible photography we have access to through our network of Media Partners. For example, we are planning on printing and showing a series of amazing National Parks photographs that Ansel Adams did for the National Archives. Lastly, there are some charitable initiatives that we're looking to associate with the Gallery." Pictopia Gallery will hold six shows throughout the year. Shows will open on the first Friday of the month and run for two months. The shows can be viewed M-F, 8am to 5pm. The schedule for the remainder of 2010 is as follows: * Friday, October 1st, 2010 – Grand Opening/Inaugural show. A group show featuring the work of 12 well-known photographers who use Pictopia Photo Lab services. The show will launch with an opening from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. Drinks and hors d'ouvres will be served. * Friday, December 3rd, 2010 – A Year in Photographs. The gallery will showcase fifty of the most beautiful, striking, moving and engaging images that we've seen in the past year. The opening will be at 7pm on Friday, December 3rd. Dates for the 2011 shows are currently under development and will open on the first Fridays of February, April, June, August, October and December.
