Join Tania Hammidi, Diversity Studies faculty member, as she hosts a "Public Art/Street Art/Reclaiming the Domestic Arts: Who Gets to Make What and Why," a lecture featuring pioneer lesbian filmmaker / crochet artist Guinevere Turner. Turner will speak about her recent yarn installations of the Griffin Park Bear in Los Angeles, followed by a Q&A.

About Guinevere Turner

Writer/director and yarn graffiti artist Guinevere Turner is best known to the queer film world for making the first lesbian feature film, Go Fish in 1994 (which premiered at the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival), establishing the genre of new queer cinema that opened the floodgates for LGBTQ film worldwide. Since then, Ms. Turner's had several lesbian independent films in the Sundance Film Festival, cowrote the screenplay to Bret Turner's Hollywood blockbuster American Psycho with director Mary Harron, and cowrote the 2005 feature The Notorious Bettie Page. Turner's recent yarn graffiti installations on the Griffith Park Bear in Los Angeles recieved national attention, and a story on NPR.
