Gender Reel is a festival by the community, for the commuity. Gender Reel, was started in Philadelphia by a group of activists and organizers in 2010 in response to the lack of transgender inclusion in more mainstream film festivals. The success of the events first two years inspired organizers to expand to four cities; Philadelphia, PA, Oakland, CA, Minneapolis, MN, Portland, OR. On Sept 19-22, 2013, Gender Reel will showcase, coast to coast, over 20 independently made films, amazing performance art peices, special guest appearances and informative Q&A's.
