Comedy Returns to El RioKung Pao Kosher Comedy™ Presents… “Comedy Returns to El Rio!” Thursday, February 20, 2014 @ 8pm El Rio, 3158 Mission St (@ Precita), SF Tix: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/569723 or 800-838-3006 Now in its 5th year, this monthly (now every 3rd Thursday of the month, formerly every 2nd Monday of the month) multicultural comedy show features an eclectic mix of comedians from the Bay Area and beyond. This month you'll hear the comedy stylings of: Diane Amos (The Pine Sol Lady), Zahra Noorbakhsh (All Atheists are Muslim), Ian Williams (Star Search), Nathan Habib (started performing at 14), and Lisa Geduldig (Kung Pao Kosher Comedy). Diane Amos is a San Francisco-based actress and comedian who is celebrating her 20th anniversary as The Pine Sol Lady in their national commercials. She has appeared in numerous films including Nine Months, Copycat, Angels in the Outfield, EDTV, and Twisted and can be seen playing a nurse in Woody Allen’s recent film, Blue Jasmine. Diane was a semi-finalist in Star Search, has been on A& E's Evening at The Improv, Lifetime's Girls' Night Out, and Comedy Central's Women Aloud. In addition, she has been a winner on the game shows: Wheel of Fortune, $25,000 Pyramid, and Super Password. She is the mother of two and wife of one. www.diane-amos.com Zahra Noorbakhsh is a stand up comic, writer, and solo performer. The New Yorker Magazine dubbed her one-woman show, All Atheists are Muslim, “a highlight of the International New York Theater Fringe Festival,” the largest multi-arts festival in North America. Her performances, directed by W. Kamau Bell (Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell) sold out theaters in New York, LA, and San Francisco. As a memoirist, Zahra is a contributor to the NY Times featured anthology, Love Inshallah: The Secret Love Lives of American Muslim Women with her coming of age story The Birds, The Bees--And My Hole. The Aspen National Rooftop College Comedy Competition awarded Zahra and her team of finalists the Grand Prize. She is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in Theater and Performance Studies. www.ZahraComedy.com Ian Williams first stepped onto the comedy stage in Chicago in the mid ‘80s after graduating from college. By the end of the decade, he had appeared on MTV, A&E, Showtime and Star Search and moved to San Francisco. Williams took a break from full-time work at the end of the ‘90s and emceed events throughout the Bay Area. He also married and help raise four kids. Now, he has returned with a fresh perspective! Nathan Habib is one of the youngest comics in the business. His comedy is intelligent and performed with an awkwardly confident attitude. Born in Belgium and raised in Palo Alto, Nathan was brought up in a Jewish Israeli household with a Latvian mother, an Italian raised dad, giving him plenty of diversity and experience to talk about. Nathan graduated from UC Santa Cruz last year and has been doing comedy since his freshman year of high school. He has performed all over the Bay Area with comics such as Arj Barker, Rich Vos, and Robert Duchaine and has recently begun performing in LA. Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer who’s the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy (which just celebrated its 21st birthday in December); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion.
