Our monthly open mic night, Smack Dab, is all ages, all genders, all
the time, and free.

Our February 19 feature is Blythe Baldwin.
Blythe Baldwin is a touring performance poet, storyteller, and visual artist.
Hailing from the Bay Area, she attended Pitzer college where created
her own major: Narrative Arts.

She has worked with The San Francisco Queer Open Mic since April of
2010 and became a co-host and co-organizer in January of 2012. Blythe
has performed her poetry on air with KPFA and has been televised on
KCSM's The Bay Today. She has performed spoken word at The Berkeley
Poetry Slam and The Oakland Poetry Slam, The Vetted Word Showcase,
Return to The Tender Nob: Home Theater Festival, Califia Festival,
That's What She Said, My First Love Poetry Festival, and The Golden
Pussy Posse Show part of The International Home Theatre Festival.

Blythe Baldwin started storytelling in 2011 with Bawdy Storytelling.
She was the winner of the Best Of Bawdy 5 Year Anniversary voting
pool, and also told at the Bawdy 6 year Anniversary show: Scandalous!
She has also performed storytelling with The Shout Storytelling on
multiple occasions.

She has been a featured artist at The San Francisco Queer Open Mic,
Columbus Pen and Palette Poetry Open Mic, and Modesto's Slam on Rye.
Blythe competed as a semi-finalist for the 2011 Berkeley Poetry Slam
Season and has won first place at UC Santa Cruz Slam and Slamazon Slam
in 2013.

If you'd like to perform at the open mic, please come beginning at
7:30pm and bring five minutes of whatever you want to share.
Musicians: one song. Prose writers: that's about two and a half double
spaced pages of prose. We're the friendliest open mic you'll find but
we pay attention to time.
