A night of reading & performance from Cuéntamelo!: a collection of oral histories/illustrations from elder LGBT Spanish-speaking immigrants. These narratives contribute to the intergenerational dialogue of queer Latin@ immigrants around body normativity, exile, displacement as well as exposing histories of oppression in our countries that have pushed us to seek a new home. They explore home(lessness) as experienced in the immigrant body, and how the fusion of queer slang (Spanglish) surfaces as a way of empowerment. There will be a panel where narrators will read/share their stories plus a fabulous performance from La Reina de Aztlán and a conversation with UC Berkeley professor Juana María Rodríguez. Cuentamelo! is produced by generous grants from Qcc & Galeria de la Raza through programs funded by the SF Arts Commission.
