Beautiful Resistance kicks off Safetyfest with a luscious celebration of all the ways we find to be safe, fierce and free. Bring an offering of your wishes and desires for the Love and Justice altar. Be ready for good music, a dessert buffet, life-saving burlesque, spoken word and video performances, a sex toy raffle with twice as many toys as last year, space to dance and space to chill, and much more- all benefiting CUAV (Community United Against Violence) and kicking off Safetyfest, CUAV's first annual celebration of queer and trans power in the Bay Area!

ACCESS IS LOVE: Bench and Bar is fully wheelchair accessible, including bathrooms. There are lots of areas to sit. Stay tuned for news about our FREE wheelchair accessible shuttle van picking up and dropping off folks from BART and saferides home program!

In solidarity with beloved community members who are chronically ill, please don't wear perfume, cologne, essential oils or other scented products. For real! We want folks we love to be able to stay for more than five minutes without leaving cause they're about to have a seizure!

Safetyfest is CUAV's second annual free festival celebration of all the fierce ways queer and trans people in the Bay Area stay safe and strut their stuff. Our communities already have so many of the tools needed to end violence and be truly safe in all the ways they deserve to be--they just need to be shared! Proceeds will benefit CUAV's 30+ years of supporting LGBTQQ survivors of hate violence and domestic violence to heal and create safer communities. For more information or to see the full schedule, see http://safetyfest.blogspot.com/

Founded in 1979, CUAV works to build the power of LGBTQQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) communities to transform violence and oppression. We support the healing and leadership of those impacted by abuse and mobilize our broader communities to replace cycles of trauma with cycles of safety and liberation. As part of the larger social justice movement, CUAV works to create truly safe communities where everyone can thrive.
