Queer Youth Open Mic Night at Larkin Street Drop-In on SutterThe goal of Open Mic Night is to provide local queer youth a safe peer-led environment away from a society that abuses their identity so they can express themselves in a variety of community building activities. For youth 24 and under. At Larkin St. Youth Services Drop-In Center, 1142 Sutter St. Each week, youth are served a meal, offered showers, peer counseling and a structured program meant to keep the focus on community building. The First Wednesday of the month kicks off with an Open Mic event for youth to perform and get tested for HIV. The second and third Wednesdays are for cultivating the creative process, with the help of Larkin's Art Department. On the last Wednesday, youth are offered workshops on important issues.
