Themed "GAY SERA, SYRAH" a tongue-in-cheek nod to Sonoma County's famous wine production, the event will take place on Sunday June 5th on the lush, grassy riverfront meadows of Guerneville Lodge. Organized this year by the Russian River Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the 2011 Pride events will feature more GLITTER, more GLAM and more INDULGENCE! The Russian River Sisters' Sonoma County Pride Planning Committee is co-chaired by Sister Scarlet Billows and Sister Sarah Femme Fatale. Sister Scarlet has been deeply involved with many Sonoma County events and has extraordinary organizational skills. Sister Sara Femme organized the highly successful "Benefit For The Boob" events that aided Breast Cancer programs in San Francisco. Onstage entertainment at the Pride Festival will showcase a wide variety of music and talent with Pippi Lovestocking acting as Mistress of Ceremonies for this year's festivities. Pippi is a co-founder of the long running SF institution "Trannyshack", and a veteran performer of television and standup comedy. Performers: The parade down Main Street kicks off at 11AM, with Nuns on Vespa scooters; Dykes on Bykes, the Homotos motorcycle club; roller derby girls; marching bands- including the San Francisco Lesbian & Gay Freedom Band; classic cars, community organizations, social groups and spiritual organizations. The Pride Celebration will provide a wonderful assortment of experiences and activities that uniquely represent the abundance of Sonoma County. True to the theme of "GAY SERA, SYRAH", celebrants will be able to enjoy unique foods and beverages from celebrated chefs and vintners. Foodies will especially appreciate the chance to sample Sonoma County wines at the Pride In Wine Country Terrace, with 8 participating wineries putting the "syrah" in "Gay Sera, Syrah! A Radical Faerie Freedom Village space will be set aside this year. Organized by Sr Dawna Matrix, the Russian River Faerie Village is a commercial-free, chill-out zone with impromptu live cabaret, performance art, visual art, magic, rituals, transformations, and transfigurations. Of special interest to women will be plans for Lilith's Lounge, hosted & sponsored by certified Sundoor firewalk instructor Jen Lyson of Fires of Transformation. Lilith's Lounge is a chill space for the ladies, come kick back and take care of your inner Goddess. The Children's Area will feature face-painting and many of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence have volunteered to read to the kids at "Story-time with the Sisters". There are plans to put a jumpy house for all ages nearby as well as a dunk tank. This celebration will have something of interest to everyone!
