Faetopia opening night receptionhttp://faetopia.com Faetopia Opening Night Reception 2286 Market St. $10 suggested donation Be among the first to experience the beauty that is Faetopia! Our stunning gallery space opens to the public, showcasing local queer artists and their works. With over a dozen contributing artists, Faetopia's space is a fantasyland of color and sensation. The opening reception is the prime time to meet many of the co-creators of Faetopia and find out what these talented queers are up to year round. The reception opens with the siren song of Miss Rahni, followed by the heart-strumming acoustic stylings of Ben Peavey, surprise drag performances, and the first part of Artist Malcolm Drake's Shadows & Silhouette's | Story of a Showman. Faetopia is a pop-up queer arts, ecology, theater and community center. For the week before San Francisco Pride, over 50 artists and collaborators will create a visionary space for the gay community in the long vacant Tower Records, next to Cafe Flore at Market St & Noe St (2286 Market St, to be exact). During the day, Faetopia will host workshops, meditations, teach-ins and heart circles. At night, the arts reign supreme with theater, burlesque, queer cinema, sexy book releases and, of course, plenty of drag. We've created several different sections representing the main aspects of Faetopia: Visual Arts, Ecology, Sex, Performing Arts, History and Community. There's a lot happening with each area, so take the time explore online the vast rainbow of events and art rocking the Castro all week!
