History Talk | The Life and Times of Tede Matthews, Poet and Revolutionary at the GLBT Historical Society MuseumThe GLBT History Museum, 4127 18th St., San Francisco, CA Historian Greg Youmans presents the life and times of Tede Matthews, a poet and activist who lived in San Francisco from the mid-1970s until his death from AIDS in 1993. A star of the 1977 film "Word Is Out," Matthews was a performer with the Angels of Light. He also was a member of the Modern Times Bookstore Collective and an activist in international liberation struggles. Illustrated with videos, the talk will explore how Matthews's biography complicates accounts of recent queer history.
