Reminder: Halloween Special Event at Books Inc Castro @ Wed Oct 30, 2013 7:30pm - 8:30pm (Queer Things)
Halloween Special Event at Books Inc CastroRob Rosen, Vamp Allison Moon, Hungry Ghost With performance-poet Baruch Porras-Hernandez At Books Inc Castro, 2275 Market St On Vamp: Let your bat wings soar in this fangtastic misadventure of the superunnatural. Fine, the coffin in the basement was a little unusual. Certainly no more so than the mansion itself, though, or, for that matter, the humpbacked manservant that came with it, or the mysterious death of its former owner. In fact, so starts a long list of all things unusual for our unlikely hero, Jack, and his newfound and strange family, his werewolf boyfriend, the pack eager to help him, and the ancient clan that wants him dead at all costs. Know this, however, in the end, this misfit group of characters will leave you howling in the crypt aisles! Hungry Ghost is book two of the Tales of the Pack series, exploring feminism, identity, and sexuality through the lens of the werewolf mythos. Strange is the new normal for college freshman Lexie Clarion. She could be writing papers and going to frat parties like a normal girl, but Lexie is no normal girl. She spends each full moon fighting against the beast that threatens to escape her body and the rest of the time mooning over her alpha ex-girlfriend. When Lexie discovers the eviscerated body of a fellow student, she knows the violent full-blood Rare wolves are back on the prowl. But with no proof, no plan, and no allies, Lexie and her Pack have to decide how to fight back. And they have to so fast, before all the women of Milton become prey. Baruch Porras-Hernandez is a writer, performer, organizer, visual artist and storyteller based in San Francisco. He has performed all over California, Washington D.C., NYC, and Canada. His writing has been published in numerous anthologies, regularly organizes poetry shows in the bay area, and is currently the curator and head organizer for The San Francisco Queer Open Mic. Baruch Porras-Hernandez' poetry appears in Aim for the Head: Anthology of Zombie Poetry; and Divining Divas: 100 poems by gay men on their muses.
