Joey Arias in "Lightning Strikes" with Kristian Hoffman at Feinstein's at the NikkoHotel Nikko San Francisco Joey Arias in "Lightning Strikes" with Kristian Hoffman Thursday, Oct 24, 2013 8:00 PM PDT Premium : $35.00 (Most seats in the house) Borrowed from the title of a Klaus Nomi song, "Lightening Strikes" marks the first collaboration between Joey Arias and Kristian Hoffman, two veterans of the fertile East Village Art Scene of the 1980's. Both were close friends and collaborators of the late German counter-tenor. Nomi and Arias famously backed up David Bowie on Saturday Night Live and the two were close friends up until the time of Nomi's death. Hoffman wrote Nomi's signature songs ("Nomi Song," "Total Eclipse, "Simple Man") and did the arrangements for others. The show mixes Arias' and Hoffman's personal reminiscences with Nomi songs, Arias' famed "channeling" of Billie Holiday, jazz standards, classic rock and pop. "Lightning Strikes" debuted in Los Angeles earlier this year and toured to Portland, Salt Lake City, Seattle and New York. A European tour is being planned for early 2014 in conjunction with what would have been Nomi's 70th birthday.
