RadioActive Youth: Live LGBTQIQA-themed media from Bay Area teensoutLoud Radio lights up Pride Week with RadioActive Youth: Live LGBTQIQA-themed media from Bay Area teens The Geiger counter is going wild as outLoud Radio brings RadioActive Youth to San Francisco on June 22. This superhot variety show energizes the beginning of Pride week with live and multimedia stories, music, slam poetry and more from the country's only queer youth radio project. It's an Official San Francisco Pride Event and one of the few Pride events to put young people center stage, featuring performers from outLoud Radio and special guests from Youth Speaks and HIFY, and a guest performance by Aima The Dreamer of Goddess Alchemy. DJ Ryan spins electro breaks and soulful house at a sizzling 20-and-under after party. RadioActive Youth takes place on Tuesday, June 22 at Mama Calizo's Voice Factory, 1519 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA. Doors open at 7:00pm and the show begins at 7:30pm. The after party for youth 20 and under runs from 9:00pm to 11:00pm. An $8-$15 donation will be requested at the door (youth: $5 or $4 for just the after party; no one turned away for lack of funds). RadioActive Youth invites guests to play the part of studio audience in a live radio show performed and recorded onstage by the talented teenagers of outLoud Radio. Local LGBTQIQA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, questioning and allied) youth will explore various intriguing topics: gay video gamers, the queer punk movement known as queercore, queer youth at prom and much more. Moving, funny and thought-provoking stories will be in the mix with live music, slam poetry by special guests from Youth Speaks, media from HIFY, and a guest performance by hip-hop artist Aima The Dreamer of Goddess Alchemy. In the midst of an LGBT Pride celebration that overwhelmingly focuses on adult activities, RadioActive Youth is one of the few Pride Week events celebrating youth from the LGBTQIQA community. For information about our guest performers, visit Goddess Alchemy at http://www.goddessalchemyproject.com and Aima at http://www.aimathedreamer.com; visit Youth Speaks at http://www.youthspeaks.org and HIFY at http://www.hify.org. outLoud Radio has been working with queer youth and their allies in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2002 to tell their stories. Through this work, outLoud increases the well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer young people by helping them develop the skills and confidence to decide for themselves how they will be represented, advance social justice and make the most of their lives. outLoud is a Sponsored Organization of the Lavender Youth Recreation & Information Center. Please note the lowercase letter at the start of the organization's name: outLoud Radio. For further information about outLoud Radio, visit http://www.outloudradio.org
