Harlem Hip-Hop will be a night of celebrating all that has emerged from that marvelous, swinging, literary heavy hitting, jazz jumping, art exploding, civil rights awakening era of the Harlem Renaissance! We have such an awesome show for you. Burlesque perfomers singing Fats Waller, Beat Box Dancers and A DJ spinning the most underground, bumpin, sock it to ya tunes this side of the 21st century.

Pertfomers: DJ David Petrelli, Chantelle Tibbs, Alotta Boutee, SF Boylesque, Micho the Beat Box Dancer, Zora Neale Hurston, Tin Sandwich, and more.

DJ David Petrelli: Recently transplanted from the East Coast, David is an artist, political powerhouse and a DJ committed to the underground. He has been the musical force behind Kunst Stoff, that infamous avant garde dance company and he has recently performed with Dead Prez. Oakland has been a huge inspiration for this DJ who not only brings you tunes that will make you shake and shimmy but think and fury as well. He will be bringing with him a whole host of groovy cats who do beat box dance, shout it loud on the mic, sing it sweet and ultimately remind us that through it's joy, music can be used to bring justice a little closer to our skins.

Alotta Boutee: Straight from the womb to the lime light, this lady's been performing since her first breath. Itching for her own little niche in this glamorous world, she went searching for a place that was right for her. She found it in the stories of her moonshinin' grandpa and brazen matriarchy. Alotta relished her rich creole family history and the dirty blues of the deep south. All of that was then refined in her friends, vibrant with drag of all kinds. You can find this bawdy, brassy, juke-joint mamma performing throughout San Francisco and on occasional travels.

Alotta got her start as a member of Harlem Shake Burlesque. That first year they won best troupe at Miss Exotic World 2004, and Best Burlesque in both SF Guardian and East bay Express. They also graced the pages of 7x7 Magazine in their Top 20 under 40. Alotta has also been featured in Curve Jan/FEeb 2008 issue and in Margaret Cho's beautiful people blog. With Harlem Shake and solo she's had the privilege of gracing many stages across the country; from Starshine in NYC, to Gurlesque Burlesque by the Sissy Butch Brothers in Chicago, Sunsuous Woman with Margaret Cho to The Supperclub in San Francisco, Tease-o-rama and Miss Exotic World.

I had the great pleasure of seeing her perform in an old bordello in Oakland. Not only is she super fine but she is a very knowledgable woman discoursing on everything from Fats Waller, to Alvin Ailey to the strange and varied purposes of art.

Chantelle Tibbs: Officially a member of Kamp Camille this amazing singer songwriter also occasionally goes solo with her unique and infinitely delightful original songs that explore the revelation of rain pouring on window of a passing train and the myriad travails of courting the ladies. For this show she will be honoring us with her acoustic renditions of a few of those more popular hip-hop tunes.

SF Boylesque: An all boy, all hot male burlesque troup. They don't just challenge notions of tits and ass but artfully challenge race, sex and history as well. Look for there old school jazz jumpin number. The world of Burlesque requires a sensitivity to the subtle and the absurd. Being true to those roots, SF Boylesque understands that there is no need to take themselves too seriously. Mixing fast-paced commentary and physical theater with strong art direction, they conjure-up a reality in which the unexpected is carefully crafted; every moment is a dance, every interaction, an invitation to participate.

Mona Webb(awaiting confirmation-we will have an amazing poet for you): Mona Webb is a poet, performer, actor, playwright, and producer. In '06, after many years of co-hosting the legendary Baton Rouge slam, Mona Webb moved to the Bay Area to study Theater at New College. She quickly integrated into the local slam scene and become the San Francisco Slaminatrix and coach of the SF Slam Team. Director of the SF Chapter of the youth literacy program Lyrical Minded, she hosts open mics, produces plays, and performs regularly around the Bay Area.

Tin Sandwich: This tin horn trio is an ode to the Harmonicats of the thirties who brought a lively jazziness to that folk instrument that was so much a part of the forming of American music.
