Mugsy's pop-up wine bar at El RioMugsy's pop-up wine bar at El Rio – 3.0 (a bar within a bar) Friday, June 15 (5-8+pm) (Featuring women, urban, people of color and yeah this time, French, winemakers.) Does your soul need a makeover? Or do you just need a fantastic glass of wine in a dive bar with friends to reveal possibilities. Good things happen when you step onto the patio and find upscale wine at El Rio. Join us for Mugsy 3.0 and you'll meet two winemakers, the Bayview-based Barbara Gratta from Gratta Wines and Berkeley's Kathryn Cohen from Stomping Girl. We'll pour Gratta's new 2010 killer Cabernet and Stomping Girl's SF Chronicle award-winning 2009 Corona Creek Pinot Noir. You can also sip a glass of Betelgeuse Rosé from Brown Estates or try the sparkling Terres Secrètes Crémant de Bourgogne, blanc de noirs (yeah, it's French). Blink your eyes. They're that good and you're not at a vineyard, or high-end venue, you're relaxing at El Rio drinking amazing wine for about $7 a glass. Finite batch of free oysters at 5:30. Homemade piadina (Italian flatbread sandwiches) from La Piada Randagia pairs nicely and starts around 6-ish. Drinking stellar wine normally reserved for posh restaurants in the comfort of a dive bar? What more does the universe hold for you. For more info and updates: http://mugsywinebar.tumblr.com/
