more details » Time Warp: A Rocky Horror Picture Show Themed Fundraiser in Hayward In honor of Disability Employment Awareness Month, a national campaign with roots dating back to 1945 that occurs annually in October and highlights underemployment of people with disabilities, Community Resources for Independent Living (CRIL) is hosting its major fundraising event for 2013: "Time Warp" -a Rocky Horror Picture Show themed event- starting at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Bistro, 1001 B Street, Hayward, California 94546. Everyone over the age of 21 is welcome! RHPS costumes are also welcome, but optional. Dance to the live music of local band, Razor Train, playing Rocky Horror show tunes under the backdrop of selected movie clips, learn about disability history through a timeline display, bid on fabulous silent auction items, eat tasty food and enjoy cold beverages, all while supporting CRIL and our local community! CRIL is a 501(c)3 disability services & advocacy organization whose mission is to improve lives and make communities fully accessible. CRIL has nearly 35 years of experience in providing independent living services and peer support to thousands of seniors and persons with disabilities annually. David A., a long-time consumer of CRIL, says "I don't know what I'd do without CRIL! You are always there to support me and teach me new things." Sheela G., a disability advocate, "CRIL does more for improving the lives of people with disabilities than any other organization in our area." ALL proceeds from the Time Warp event will help CRIL continue meeting the comprehensive independent living needs of low-income seniors and people with disabilities in Alameda County. Advance tickets for Time Warp are only $15.00 or $20.00 with a movie participation fun bag. If space allows, tickets can be purchased at the door for $25.
