The Vagina Monologues Oakland

Come to the best lady-centered, hella queer show in Oakland!

It is at The Uptown Nightclub in Oakland, so come out and grab a drink, have a laugh, and hit on one of our hot cast members. All for a good cause, of course.

The beneficiary of all our proceeds this year is the California Coalition for Women Prisoners (http://womenprisoners.org).

Funds raised by this production will benefit the California Coalition for Women Prisoners ( http://womenprisoners.org ). CCWP is a grassroots social justice organization, with members inside and outside the prison system, that challenges the institutional violence imposed on women, transgender people, and communities of color by the prison industrial complex (PIC). The organization sees the struggle for racial and gender justice as central to dismantling the PIC and prioritizes the leadership of the people, families, and communities most impacted in building this movement.

Hailed by The New York Times as "funny" and "poignant" and by the Daily News as "intelligent" and "courageous," The Vagina Monologues, which was first performed off-Broadway by Eve Ensler, dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage, and excitement of women's experiences. Based on hundreds of interviews Ensler conducted with women, the play addresses women's sexuality, selfhood, the social stigma surrounding rape and abuse, and a host of other issues facing women today. By addressing these issues, The Vagina Monologues seeks to spark a new conversation about and with women.
