Oakland: Queer Contra Dance at Humanist Hall

Queer Contra Dance
Saturday, June 5
Dean Allemang calls
3:30-5:30 pm experiencenced dance w/ The Fiddlerats
5:30-6:30 pm potluck
7-10 pm dance for all w/ The Pork Pies
Humanist Hall, 390 27th St in Oakland
$10 one dance, $15 both dances (or pay what you can)

Queer Contra pulls out all the stops for our semiannual double dance and potluck extravaganza. Not only do you get our regular evening dance, but also an afternoon experienced dance for those of you jonesing for a little extra twirl with those who know.

Who is "experienced," you ask? If you've been to at least a few of our dances and feel comfortable with the basic moves, you're experienced. It's that easy. If you're interested in taking your contra dance skills to the next level or in trying out some more complicated dances, the experienced dance is a great opportunity.

All are welcome in the evening (we love beginners!), so please share this message with your contra-curious friends. Beginners should show up by 7:00 (what time? 7:00!), when life is simpler and experienced folk take neophytes under their wing. As the evening progresses, so does the level of contra dance.

The verdant Humanist Hall patio will host the potluck. Bring whatever you wish to share -- main course, sides, dessert, beverages, all are welcome -- and we'll provide the plates, utensils, and cups. Please label your dishes so the vegetarians/vegans/food allergic among us can choose wisely.
