Rock'n'Bowla-thon raises funds to send youth to Girls Rock Summer Camp at Albany Bowl

2nd Annual Rock ‘n’ Bowl-a-thon raises funds to send youth to Bay Area Girls Rock Camp this summer

At Albany Bowl, 540 San Pablo Ave, Albany, CA 94706

On Sunday April 6, Bay Area Girls Rock Camp will host a bowling party where teams compete for fabulous prizes while raising funds to send low-income youth to experience empowerment through music at Girls Rock Summer Camp.

Each bowling team is raising funds in order to participate in the Rock ’n’ Bowl-a-thon, and will engage in friendly competition to win prizes for most fabulous costumes, best score, team spirit, most creative team name, and more. The grand prize, for the team that raises the most money, is 2 nights in a beautiful historic compound on the Russian River—complete with a hot tub, volleyball court, and outdoor kitchen. New teams are forming every day, and currently include Rock Camp staff, Board, volunteers and campers, as well as local musicians and other community supporters. Local businesses such as Econo Jam Records and Black Spring Coffee have also formed teams. The Bowl-a-thon takes place at the Albany Bowl, 540 San Pablo Ave, Albany CA, and will also feature a photobooth and silent auction with prizes donated by Foreign Cinema Restaurant, Oaklandish, Bay Area Video Coalition, Cinnaholic, Saturn Café, and many other great local businesses.

“We are excited to bring our community together to support youth empowerment and arts education in a fun new way. Last year over 100 supporters spent the afternoon bowling, enjoying pizza and beer, and learning how to do the Cupid Shuffle from a 20-foot-tall dancing bowling pin... and this year will be even bigger and better! The Bowl-a-thon is a great way to reach new supporters, spread the word about our important work, and raise money for our Access Fund, which provides need-based financial aid to low-income families. Thanks to our supportive community, we’re able to offer year-round programming with no one ever turned away for lack of funds. We’re proud to be part of an international movement of over 50 camps dedicated to empowering girls through music and creating a world free of the myths that tell girls they can’t do or be something because of their gender,” said Voula O’Grady from Bay Area Girls Rock Camp.

Bay Area Girls Rock Camp is a nonprofit organization that empowers girls through music, promoting an environment that fosters self-confidence, creativity and teamwork. BAGRC challenges gender stereotypes, encourages collaboration and tolerance among peers, and provides a comfortable space for people of all backgrounds to express themselves. Through music lessons, workshops, group activities and performance, girls acquire skills that help guide them throughout their lives.
