more details » Oakland: Sistahs Steppin' in Pride East Bay Dyke March & Festival From the Pillars at the top of Lake Merritt to Snow Park in Downtown Oakland http://www.sistahssteppin.org/ On Saturday, August 28, 2010, Sistahs Steppin' in Pride (SSIP) will celebrate its 9th annual East Bay Dyke March & Festival at Lake Merritt and Snow Park in Oakland. For almost a decade, SSIP has produced this landmark event that celebrates and honors the East Bay's diverse queer women's communities while bridging alliances with neighbors and friends from the greater landscape. As we engage the entire community to bring this eve...nt to fruition, we invite you to join us for a day of community, celebration, and fun. Sistahs, as we define it, includes ALL women who recognize the necessity to come together from a space of Sistahood and Sistahlove. MISSION STATEMENT Sistahs Steppin' in Pride illuminates the collective and individual creativity, strength, and accomplishments of East Bay lesbian and bisexual women to reaffirm their beauty and sense of belonging. PURPOSE Sistahs Steppin' In Pride's purpose is to nurture intergenerational and multi-cultural bridges and create a safe, sacred space to honor our Herstory. We seek to empower the diverse East Bay lesbian and bisexual community of women to reclaim their lives from fear and celebrate their spirituality. We aspire to provide opportunities to the artists, activists, community organizations and individuals of our community to come together and share our lives and resources.
