K'vetsh open mic at ErosPostponed to today due to labor day. Sunday, September 12th with Elyssa Joy Kilman and Dave End. At Eros on Market across from Safeway near Church. 8pm, $3-5. Open mic signup about 7:30. Your features: elyssa joy kilman is currently writing her first novel, which chronicles the new york city misadventures of a young queer girl's bumbling, earnest and insubordinate attempts to be a grown-up and try to find some meaning in an ultimately meaningless world. In the daytime hours, elyssa is a creative arts therapist on an inpatient mental health facility, using drama, poetry and play in her work with clients.
Dave End is an acoustic D.I.Y. troubadour who writes Queer Cupcake Loving Honesty Pop and focuses on the details that rhyme. Tackling subject matters like bullying, homophobia, body image and heartbreak, Dave End could easily fall into the slippery traps of self-pity and earnestness, but he manages to keep his songs aloft with humor, bounce, and jamboree-style glee. In the past 3 years, Dave End has released 2 albums, played over 250 shows, toured over 18,000 miles, joined a dance troupe, written a 100 page work on Supermarkets, ran a queer DIY venue out of her living room, and wrote/composed a musical. Most recently Dave End Produced a staged reading in new york of his new musical entitled, "Fabulous Artistic Guys Get Overtly Traumatized Sometimes: The Musical!"
