Hill has teamed up with trans culture magazine and SF favorite, ORIGINAL PLUMBING to present and hosts the first annual SAN FRANCISCO MR. TRANSMAN FTM (female-to-male) competition at Elbo Room in San Francisco. In 2010 Murray Hill created Mr. Transman and presented it to New York. After several years producing the infamous MISS LEZ PAGEANT, and the growing spectrum of gender expression and identity, Hill decided it was time to put together an inclusive trans-tastic and trans-focused evening of entertainment to create a positive space and raise the visibility of this slice of the queer community. Gay pageants have been around for a long time. Transgendered pageants for MTF (male-to-female), have been around forever, but never has there been a competition for FTM and transman… until now. Not only was this competition a historic nightlife event, it has been an unabashed sold-out success that created a media-storm and drew an incredibly diverse audience for the past three years. This year, we've curated some incredible trans talent such as: FREEPLAY DANCE CREW, a hip hop dance company with deep roots in the SF Bay Area LGBT community; ASHLEY FINK, actress best known for Lauren Zizes on "Glee"; BRONTEZ PURNELL, Musician and Zinester, MICHELLE TEA, award-winning author; SHAWNA VIRAGO, singer and creator of SF Transgender Film Festival and more! The evening will feature a competition of six diverse transmen contestants from the local community who will compete for the SAN FRANCISCO MR. TRANSMAN 2014 title in the following categories: PLATFORM, SWIMSUIT, INTERVIEW, TALENT, and EVENING WEAR. They will be judged by a panel of celebrated trans and queer/ally personalities.
