(Friday, June 1st 5-8 pm) There's a lot of wines out there kids and a lot of shmancy places to drink it. But there's only one, El Rio, your dive (bar) and two nights a month where you can leave the preciousness out of wine drinking and head out to the patio and enjoy a choice of four stellar wines. Okay, maybe five on June 1st but we're not showing our hand till later. With a focus on urban, women, and people of color wineries, Mugsy will pour Corona Creek (Sonoma) Pinot Noir from Stomping Girls Wines and Dry Creek Zinfandel from Gratta Wines, and two (or three…) more surprises to be announced soon. Meet Bayview winemaker Barbara Gratta whose award-winning Zinfandel began in a garage and traveled to international heights as an award winner. Wines are $5-$10. Together with a finite batch of free oysters at 5:30 and homemade piadina (Italian flatbread sandwiches) from La Piada Randagia, it's time to leave your house again.
